Aminu Tambuwal, the governor of Sokoto State, swore in the newly elected local government council chairmen on Wednesday.
He urged them to pay attention to the state’s growing insecurity.
Soon after administering the oath of office, the Governor stated that the current security challenges have made it necessary for chairmen to stay and find a solution to the specific crisis in their local government.
According to Tambuwal, the local government is the engine of development at the grassroots, and chairmen must not allow failure.
To ensure successful statewide preparation, he ordered the chairmen to hold security meetings on a regular basis and report the results to the state government.
Governor Tambuwal also urged them to treat all members of the local government fairly, regardless of political affiliation.
He thanked the state electoral commission, security agencies, citizens of the state, as well as traditional and religious leaders, for conducting the election in a peaceful manner.
