The State Government of Bayelsa has expressed its readiness to strengthen its current relationship with the US.
This was made known to Governor Douye Diri when he hosted a delegation of the U.S. Embassy in the government’s house.
The US Embassy Political and Economic Chief, Mr. Brandon Hudspeth, while admitting that the US mission enjoyed a robust relationship with previous administrations, wished to continue the partnership towards the benefit of both parties.
“As a government that has taken over assets and liabilities, we see the United States more as an asset and we are prepared to continue the collaboration and synergy between our state and the U.S.
“I want to assure you that the Bayelsa Government would also find prosperity in the partnership with your country,” the Bayelsa governor told the Americans.
Hudspeth, speaking earlier, congratulated Diri on his first office anniversary, which he said had seen honesty of intent in the creation of the state.
He noted that the U.S. mission had a strong friendship with previous governments and wished to maintain the cooperation for the greater benefit of both sides.
The Political and Economic Head of the US Embassy also commended the Governor for the importance given to key projects that would open the doors to direct and indirect investment, both from the US government and its private partners.
