Eight die in avalanches on Italian Alps

Avalanches in several Italian alpine resorts have killed a total of eight people, Mountain Rescue Services said on Monday. The avalanches happened on Sunday and hit off-piste skiers, the National Alpine Cliff and Cave Rescue Corps wrote on Twitter. Six people died in the north-western region of Valle d’Aosta, one in the mountains north of Milan and another in the German-speaking province of South Tyrol.
