The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU chose a new president and council executives to head the organization for the next two years.
The ASUU executive council, on the other hand, would serve for a maximum of four years.
They were chosen in ASUU’s national delegates conference in Awka, Anambra State.
Prof. Victor Emmanuel Osodeke of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture in Umudike, Abia State, was chosen President, while Chris Piwuna, a Consultant Psychiatrist and Associate Professor at the University of Jos’ College of Medicine, was chosen Vice President.
Prof. Siji Sowande (Treasurer); Prof. Ade Adejumo (Financial Secretary); Dr. Austen Sado (Investment Secretary); and Dr. Adamu Babay (Investment Secretary) are among the others appointed.
While the new President served as Vice President to the outgoing President, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, Piwuna was the Internal Auditor of ASUU and its former Chairman in UNIJOS before his election.
